What tiny detail have most people noticed but never bothered to stop and think about?

If you watch American Football, you may have seen something like this happen:

Believe it or not, the guy holding Los Angeles Ram’s coach Sean McVay back actually has a specific job: the get-back man.

During football games, a team can get penalized 5 yards if there are too many people on the field.

In addition, coaches running into the referees on the sideline by accident can also draw a penalty.

Coaches are required to remain within the boundaries of the sidelines, which is incredibly hard to do as a game gets more intense. There is a strong urge to suddenly jump on the field to protest a call or the excitement of a touchdown flares up.

The get-back man aside from making sure players are on the sideline also has to follow the coach for the whole game and apply physical force if necessary to keep them from jumping on the field and drawing a penalty.

It’s a very interesting but underappreciated job in pro and even college football that not many understand.
