So I have been in both the Marine Corps and the Air Force and I can tell you the food doesn’t really suck in either. I would say that the chow in the Corps is functional and reliable. It is not bad. It just is rather plain.
If you like chicken and rice and omelettes and the simple dishes that keep you going then the Corps will not grate on you too much.
The Air Force, on the other hand, spends a lot of time and no small amount of money on its Dining Facilities (they changed it from Chow Hall). They are routinely better than the average chow hall, but not by such a margin as to make them in a separate class altogether.
The omelette is a military staple now for any chow hall or dining facility for breakfast. If you can’t get an omelette where you are, then you are in the suck. If you can get an omelette where you are, then you probably cannot be too deep in the suck.
