How do you parent a large family?

Mateo Elijah

I am number two of eight children. It was family and the only family I knew so it felt normal. My father maintained that, if you have a large family, always make sure it is an even number because people tend to pair off. He also said that it made it easier to divide up the grapefruit. My parents were exceptional people who always wanted a large family, which is strange as my mother had one brother and my father has one sister.

I loved coming from a large family as there was always someone to play with, I particularly liked rainy days as is the only time we were allowed to play hide-n-seak in the house. Monopoly games sometimes lasted for days and playing in the mud outside was one of the joys of my childhood. I would not have changed it for anything

My father often said that he had a teenager in the house for 27 straight years

Here is the last picture was taken of all ten of us as my older brother died in a boating accident a short time after this picture was taken

My mother made all of her’s and my sisters’ clothes so she made all of the dresses

Here is the most recent picture of the siblings taken last month
