Is it ok to eat just one meal per day as long as it’s healthy?

The only elite athlete I know who eats one meal a day doesn’t eat what most would consider healthy.

Mikey Musumeci is the UFC BJJ Bantamweight World Champion, who eats one massive meal of pizza, pasta and a tub of acai every day.

During the day, he trains and drinks caffeine for energy. He doesn’t eat a thing until dinner time.

His main source of protein is cheese, and he doesn’t eat any meat. Every day after training, he makes homemade pizza and pasta, then sits down and eats the whole lot while watching some TV.

Oh, and he’s ridiculously shredded.

I’m not saying this is the best way to eat, or even the way you should eat. What I am saying is that one meal a day works, provided it fits with your lifestyle and goals. Mikey has to stay light year-round, so one meal a day stops him from overeating.

The only way to know if one meal a day will work for you is to try it for a while. Does it fit with your work schedule and your family commitments?

Most importantly, do you enjoy it?

The diet that gives you the most sustainable results is the diet you find easiest to follow. If that’s one meal a day, then go for it.
