What is a rare disorder that you suffer from?

Mateo Elijah

I have something called Dermatographia.

Basically, this means that whenever I get a light scratch on my skin, it turns into a raised red mark in the shape of the scratch.

Here’s some examples:

In both of these, I lightly scratched my arm with my fingernail, and this is how it looked about 10 minutes later.

This is what it would look like if I used a pen or a paperclip to scratch my arm, instead of just my nail:

(Not me in this picture)

Other than looking kind of weird, there aren’t very many negative effects that come with having this condition.

The raised marks don’t hurt or itch, and they go away in about a half-hour, or less.

Honestly, I kind of like having Dermatographia.

It’s fun to freak people out with, and it’s useful if I have to remember something for just a few minutes.

Or to remember a formula or a few dates for an upcoming test…

But I’d never use it for that.
