What fact completely ruins a movie?

Mateo Elijah

Mostly we understand that actual facts needs to be tampered a but to make the scene spicy and gripping. But sometimes, the entire plot is held together just by that stupid inaccuracy.

This, is the moment where I stop the movie and start scrolling for something else.

LANDMINES…

The character, steps on a landmine, the mine makers are so generous to add a click noise for the victim to alert his troops and also the mine patiently waits for the guy to lift his foot and shift his body weight before it explodes.

In reality, the mine explodes the moment someone steps on it. Infact mines would explode even before the guys realizes that he has stepped on a mine. It’s not like, you can stand still and buy time to warn your troops, call your loved ones to say you love them, and some stupid attempts by your troop to save you from the mine.

Am not an expert, but I only see four scenarios where you can expect some delay in the explosion:

  1. If it’s a tank mine, the guys can happily do a backflip right on top of it and walk away coz it can’t be triggered by human weight.
  2. If it’s an S-type mine, where the explosive gets ejected upto waist or chest height and explode. So there is a delay in explosion, but am not sure that it won’t explode if it’s not able to eject from the ground.
  3. Claymore mines, which can be triggered through wires by another person hiding nearby.
  4. An improvised explosive were a grenade or an artillery shell has been placed in a setup to work like mine. In case there maybe chances coz we don’t know how it has been setup.

Sadly, there are movies where the entire plot is how a soldier survives after he steps on a landmine.
