In 1995 the famous Beatles drummer Ringo Starr had a bit of a run in with the law.
After finishing his meal with some of his friends at a restaurant, he was asked to sign his credit card bill.
According to staff, he started ranting about peace and love, and saying he wouldn’t sign any autographs after the 20th of October, and tore the check up.
On top of talking nonsense, he reportedly jumped up on the tables and started kicking the salt and pepper shakers. When one of the employees got salt in her eyes, the manager decided it was time to call the authorities.
Ringo was supposedly acting so belligerent that the officer felt it necessary to tase him! That’s right, Ringo Starr was tased!
It was later discovered that he had been given large amounts of Sangria, instead of the fruit punch that he had ordered.
He was booked into Harris County Jail under suspicion of assault, although he was soon bailed out.
Even though his outburst was unintentional, assault is a serious crime!
