….Robert Mitchum…wrote poetry…composed music…even wrote an oratorio…wrote and sang theme song for his movie “Thunder Road”/1958.
He had such a photographic memory that he committed to memory entire scripts after one reading.
He was a true connoisseur of marijuana….maybe the reason for those great hooded eyes?…
Took some jail time…took it in stride…telling guards…”Hell boys, I’ve lived in rooms worse than this”…when locked in his cell….
Drank heavily….smoked 3 packs a day…
He was the big screen’s first true anti-hero…before Brando:& Dean…the inventor of big screen cool…way before McQueen and Eastwood….
Co-star/“Heaven Knows Mr. Allison”…..Deborah Kerr said,
…….”I admire Mitchum. He’s a super actor and contrary to public opinion, he’s an amazingly sensitive and poetic man.”…
Mitchum died the same day as Jimmy Stewart so his passing did not get the recognition he so truly deserved.
