Shawn Hornbeck
In 2002 Michael Devlin kidnapped Shawn when he was 11 years old, near his home while riding his bike.
Devlin was a pizza delivery driver that lived in a small apartment complex. He was able to convince Shawn that if he tried to escape, Devlin would kill him and his family. Shawn was held captive and molested for over 4 years, until Devlin kidnapped another child, 13 year old Ben Ownby.
One of Ben’s friends gave police a description of the vehicle he saw Ben abducted in, which lead to the boys discovery and Devlins arrest. He is currently serving out over 70 life sentences in a Missouri Maximum Security Prison.
So Shawn lived 4 years, pretending to be Devlins son, even interacting with Devlins neighbors outside of the apartment. He had seen his story on the news, and watched as the searches were given up. He thought he was going to be living as a captive, for the rest of his life.
