However, despite the fact that actor DeForest Kelley was a decade older than Bill Shatner and an age differential was fairly noticable, there was a debate among original series producers, some of whom argued that Dr McCoy shouldn’t be appreciably older than Captain Kirk.
If that were true, it would be essentially impossible for McCoy to have had an adult daughter, so she was written out of the script.
