I don’t know what doctors these days think of themselves. Today, I went to my old dentist because I had a root canal done 8 months ago, and at that time, the doctor told me that after the root canal, I needed to get a filling done and then have a cap placed.
There are two doctors at my dentist’s clinic. The one I used to go to for regular check-ups is Dr. Khal, and the one who actually performed the root canal was Dr. Pradeep, Dr. Khal’s senior. So 8 months ago, after the root canal, Dr. Pradeep had instructed me to go to Dr. Khilar for the filling and cap. And I did exactly as he said.
But Dr. Khal never really listened. Whenever I went for check-ups, he would just brush things off jokingly. I don’t know why. If I’m in pain, I’m obviously going to say it—but this doctor doesn’t listen. He just keeps talking nonsense and says things like, “There’s no way you can be in pain after a root canal.”
But I am in pain. It’s not like I enjoy taking medicines or spending money at the doctor’s clinic! Seriously, the doctor would just prescribe some medicine and that’s it. It’s been 8 months, and still no filling or cap. And I’ve been dealing with the pain all this while, having trouble eating too. There’s a limit to how much pain a person can tolerate.
For the last 3 days, the pain has become unbearable. The tooth where I had the root canal is hurting badly, and now even the front teeth are starting to turn black. There’s a gap forming between two of my teeth—I can barely eat anything now. The pain is just too much. But why would doctors care? If you tell them about your problem, they take it as a joke. They only care about getting paid.
So today, I finally decided not to go to Dr. Khal anymore and instead go back to the doctor who did the root canal. I went there today. And as luck would have it, even though I was trying to show him the tooth where the gap had formed, he instead started working on the tooth where the root canal had been done. He wasn’t even ready to listen to me. In fact, he scolded me, saying I didn’t follow his instructions and didn’t get the filling and other work done as he had told me.
I was so angry. But I controlled myself and calmly said, “Sir, please check the gap between these two teeth.” But instead of listening, he ignored me and just did a filling on the old root canal tooth and took his fees.
Now what do I do? Because the blackened area is really painful, and these doctors just don’t listen unless it turns into an emergency. They don’t care at all—but it’s the patient who suffers.
I hate all doctors. Seriously, I do. And I hate people who don’t even try to understand others and have zero capacity to listen. I truly hate them.
