This is a story that started in 1958 and still has big effects today.
William Leslie Arnold was only 16 years old when he killed his parents in 1958. He did this because they would not let him borrow their car to take his girlfriend to a drive-in movie.
Arnold told everyone his parents went on a road trip. But two weeks later, he was caught, admitted to the murders, and showed the police where he had buried his parents in the backyard.
On July 14, 1967, after serving eight years in prison, Arnold escaped from Nebraska State Penitentiary. He used masks to trick the guards during the daily head count, in a way similar to a famous escape from Alcatraz Prison. Arnold was never found.
Years later, an Australian man who wanted to learn about his family found out that his dead father was actually William Leslie Arnold. Arnold had changed his name and started a new life in a different country after escaping from prison.
