This is Panchita, a Galapagos sea lion

Mateo Elijah

This is Panchita, a Galapagos sea lion, caught resting next to her human friends.

Panchita got trapped in a fishing net and was almost killed.

She managed to escape but got many deep wounds on her body.

Tired and hurt, she swam to a nearby hotel where the staff took care of her until she was strong again and could go back to the wild.

Since then, Panchita visits her friends at the hotel every day to say thank you. She takes an afternoon nap on a special deckchair just for her, then dives back into the sea to come again the next day.

The hotel workers and visitors all love Panchita and wait quietly for her, giving her space and privacy while she visits.
