In March 2020, we welcomed Peanut, a tiny preemie, home after a month-long stay in the NICU. We adored him and devoted ourselves fully—giving him every chance to thrive. That’s what foster care is all about!
During his case, we learned Peanut had biological family eager to care for him. We worked closely with them, teaching them about his medical needs and preparing them to take over his care. Along the way, we built a wonderful friendship, staying connected through frequent texts and updates.
In late January 2021, Peanut transitioned to his new home. Though we didn’t know what the future would hold, his family generously kept us updated with photos and messages, something they didn’t owe us. On February 4, 2022, Peanut’s adoption was finalized—and his family even invited us to witness the milestone, an incredible gift.
This is foster care in action: navigating challenges, supporting families, and celebrating the rainbows after the storm. Let’s all celebrate Peanut and his forever family!
