“Eight years ago, my mom let me marry a man from South Korea, even though she had some doubts. I was born and raised in America, but I married a Korean man.
When we moved to the U.S., my husband didn’t speak English. He felt unsure and couldn’t find a job. My parents let us live with them. We only had one car, so they gave us one of their extra ones.
When we were ready to live on our own, my parents gave us a loan to help us buy a house. After I had my second child and went back to work, my mom closed her own business just to take care of my kids so I could work full-time.
My mom’s love has no limits. Even though we don’t live with her anymore, she still sends home Korean food for my husband—just so he doesn’t miss his country too much.”
