In 2013, a man in Wales who couldn’t walk anymore gave up his hope of walking again to help a little boy get treatment instead.
Dan Black had saved £20,000 for stem cell treatment for himself. But when he heard about a five-year-old boy who needed help too, he gave his money to the boy instead.
The boy, Brecon Vaughan, was born with cerebral palsy and couldn’t walk on his own since he was born. But two years later, with Dan’s help and others, Brecon was able to walk by himself.
When Dan was asked why he gave away the money, he said, “I walked for 22 years before my accident, but Brecon has never even known what it feels like, not even for a few seconds.”
“To me, giving him the money wasn’t a big deal. If more people did things like this, the world would be a much better place.”
