Why do certain embarrassing movie scenes become iconic or infamous, even if the actor didn’t want them shown?

Maybe it’s because at the time when these actors or actresses did such scenes, they were largely new to the movie industry. And afterwards, when they became famous, they look back at such scenes and feel embarrassed about it. Lol. Like Scarlett Johansson’s robotic character in a certain movie or her God-like character in her movie Lucy.
