While out measuring a customer’s house for new windows, I came across a tiny kitten with paws far too big for his body. He looked frail—just a few weeks old—and when I asked about him, I was told, “He’ll wander off once he realizes there’s no food or water here.”
I was curious and asked how long he’d been around. They said he’d been spotted in the llama pen for two days—completely alone, enduring nearly 90-degree heat. In Alaska, that’s sweltering. Without thinking twice, I scooped him up and took him to my work truck, figuring I’d find someone who could take him in.
But when we got home, he immediately ate, drank, and curled up in my lap—where my wife later found us fast asleep. And just like that, I knew… he had already found his forever home.
That was four years ago. Today, Majhi the polydactyl cat is full-grown—but still my shadow. He follows me everywhere, greets me at the door, plays fetch like a dog, rides on my shoulders, and even strikes a pose for the camera.
Of all the cats I’ve ever known, Majhi has the biggest personality—and the biggest paws to go with it.
