Which country did Hermann Göring ask for help at the end of WWII?

By May 1945, Gorings was in a weird position. Hitler was at the end ordered his arrest for treason, so Göring believed that he was free and not content of the Nazi government. He had dreams that he could sit down with General Eisenhower and talk to him as well as he thought that he might be able to get the U.S. to help him fight off the Russians.

When he turned himself in to the 36th Infantry Division in Austria his surrender was not normal. He arrived in an expensive car with trunks of medals, expensive clothes and a baton studded with gold and diamonds. Some of the American officers even treated him like a celebrity. They had beverages with him and chicken dinner.

But when General Eisenhower learned of this, he was very angry. He said that Hermann Göring was a war criminal, not a guest. The Americans confiscated his medals and his pills, since he was a heavy drug addict, and put him into a prison cell. Göring believed he was good enough to lead an army, however, he ended up waiting for a trial at Nuremberg instead. This is an indication of how out of touch some leaders actually were.
