When my younger brother and I were teenagers, we worked during summer at a fancy restaurant far from home. We cleaned tables there. One very busy night, the manager asked us to stay late to help clean. He promised extra work hours and a free dinner. We were young and didn’t think much, so we agreed. We finally left around 3 a.m.
My brother was driving us home. The road was quiet, and we were listening to the radio. After some time, I heard a strange buzzing sound. I thought it was radio noise or the car engine. But it also sounded like soft humming, almost like a song.
I turned the radio volume down and asked my brother if he heard it too. He said he thought I was the one humming. He was confused because the sound didn’t match the song on the radio. I told him, “It’s not me!”
Suddenly, he hit the brakes hard. We looked around and realized we were stopped right in front of a cemetery. The humming did not stop even though the radio was low. Now it clearly sounded like a little girl’s voice.
We were shocked and terrified. After a second, we both screamed together. I shouted at my brother to drive away immediately.
When we reached home, our mother was already awake, drinking her morning coffee. My brother asked us to hold her rosary and say a few prayers, just in case. The scariest part was that as soon as we passed the cemetery, the humming stopped completely.
The worst part of all? The manager never gave us the free dinner he promised!
