What’re some things humans can do that other animals can’t?

Mateo Elijah

Throw perfectly.

The picture above shows a human skeleton compared to that of a gorilla (arguably, the strongest species on the planet). Notice anything? I mean… you can notice a lot of things. But the biggest thing that you’ve probably noticed is how we have shorter arms and longer legs. This major skeletal difference has done so much for our evolution. It allows us to throw faster, more powerfully and more efficient. Literally no other animal can throw as powerful as a human.

The picture above shows differences in shoulder position between an chimpanzee (left) and a human (right). Our shoulders are more positioned downwards. This makes our shoulders more elastic.

The results of a good throw are:

  • A pitch of 60-70 mph (average).
  • PSI of 1,400 (2 tons).

Both of those things combined makes us the strongest creatures on this planet (sorry, gorillas).

Humans may not be the only bipedal creatures, but we sure are good at throwing.
