To the person who left a dollar (on purpose) at The Dollar Tree

To the person who left a dollar (on purpose) at The Dollar Tree…

We were at the dollar store picking up party supplies for my soon-to-be 4-year-old’s birthday. That’s when Gage looked down on a lower shelf and said, “Look mom! I found a dollar!”

I immediately told him we should turn it in, but when he handed it to me, there was a note attached that read: “Please enjoy this random act of kindness.”

He was surprised—and so was I!

This is why I’m sharing this. I want to thank that person for giving us such a priceless lesson. Gage and I talked right there in the aisle about how kind it was and how it made his day.

Then we talked about how fun it would be to make someone else happy, to bring a smile to another person. Gage thought cookies would do the trick.

So we took that dollar, added a few more, and bought some cookies. We randomly delivered them—ringing the doorbell and running away!

Thank you for that dollar! It wasn’t ours to keep, but it brought smiles and taught a 4-year-old a lesson that can’t be learned just with words.
