Suzanne Parrish, an Australian nurse, found a “silly and adorable” creature on a beach in New Caledonia

Without hesitating, she picked it up, posed for photos and even

gave the reptile a kiss. What she did not know was that she was holding a sea krait, whose venom is ten times more toxic than that of a rattlesnake. A single brush under threat would have caused paralysis or a sudden cardiac arrest.

Suzanne survived by pure luck. Days later, in a local museum, she discovered in horror that her “friend” was a lethal species. “I was playing with death,” experts warned.
