Last night, I got a call from an unknown number

Last night, I got a call from an unknown number. I didn’t recognize it, so I didn’t answer. But there was a voicemail from an older woman saying, “I just wanted to show you how much I appreciate everything you do… but I’ll chase you down anyway. Thank you again, honey.” So, I called her back to let her know I’d gotten the wrong message. She was so thankful and asked, “Do you have a minute?” Of course, I said yes!

She told me her grandsons were all in town, and they know she loves fruitcake. They went to five different shops to find her one! She was so touched that these three grown men would go to such lengths for her, and she wanted to thank each of them. She said she had done her good deed for the day, but it was her kind words and warmth that really touched my heart.

Marie and I ended up chatting more. I mentioned I had an amazing recipe for fruitcake cookies, which she’d never heard of. So, I promised to personally deliver the recipe to her. In return, she’s going to find a French Toast Casserole recipe from a lady at her retirement center to share with me! Marie, did we just become best friends? All from one wrong call… this is amazing ❤️
