Jack Sullivan shot and killed a police officer during a robbery attempt in 1936. Later, at the age of 23, he was sentenced to death in a gas chamber. His last wish was a cigar, with which he is captured in this image. “What do I feel before I die? Nothing. Life has no meaning to think about. Live life to the fullest! We’ll meet again,” he said before his execution. Photo taken at 10 a.m. on September 27, 1936. After 10 minutes, a stethoscope on his chest registered cardiac arrest.
