Tiffany Score and Steven Mills welcomed a daughter through IVF.
They welcomed a daughter. Sadly, it wasn’t theirs — the little girl was the biological child of others. There was a mix-up with the embryos at the fertility clinic. These types of cases are EXTREMELY rare; of over 12 million births born to IVF, only 15 such cases are known.
Imagine spending thousands of dollars and years of painful cycles and fertility medication just to one day hold your own child, only to find out at the moment of birth that it isn’t your own child… the couple has decided to sue the clinic, and they want to locate the other family. They had three other embryos frozen, which may be implanted in other woman’s wombs. And somewhere in America there is a black family every bit as weirded out by the fact that they just birthed a white child.
I assume the other family or families will step forward soon enough. The whole thing will likely lead to a multi-million dollar lawsuit. But it must mess with these people’s heads enormously because obviously, when you carry a child for nine months and give birth to it, you’ll become emotionally attached. I cannot imagine the shock and trauma.
