How did a rebel attitude hurt the career of a top Hollywood actor or actress?

Mickey Rourke had it all.

Occasionally, I would bump into him at his bar “Mickey and Joey’s” on North Canon Drive in Beverly Hills in the late 1980s.

Super nice guy, but, sort of detached—but you could feel his cool.

That rebel attitude, too much hanging with bikers & boxers, cost his career.

He turned down the lead in “Top Gun” & other career building roles—“48 Hours”—“Rain Man”—“Silence Of The Lambs”—“Pulp Fiction”—“Platoon”—

His agent, manager & studio execs just threw up their hands.

Mickey Rourke would have done a lot better playing things by the book.

Mickey said it many a time since—-“The hardest thing in life to do is change”—-
