Fast Times at Ridgemont High was a classic.
You don’t have to be old, to appreciate a classic. And Phoebe Cates was quite memorable in that particular film. And it doesn’t matter if you saw it in cinema when it came out or on TV twenty years later, it’s still solid.
As for Phoebe Cates herself, her career did not last very long. She had other priorities in life, married the actor Kevin Kline and had children. She is know in her sixties and has been married for almost forty years to the same man. Which, by Hollywood standards, is my definition of success. She’ll forever be remembered for that one scene in her red bikini, forty years ago when she was just nineteen, however.
By the way, you don’t have to be “old” to know a particular actor or actress who hasn’t played in anything recently. I know Humphrey Bogart and I am familiar with Clark Gable and I haven’t seen them play in any recent Netflix films, either.
