A street vendor walked by selling bottles of water and soda. I stopped him and asked for some water. When he put his cooler down, I noticed something different tied to it: a baby pacifier. Jokingly, I asked if he sold pacifiers too 🙈 He laughed and explained why he had the pacifier tied there.
He told me that his daughter, Mireya, was born a few months ago. He said he tied the pacifier to his chest so that when his shoulders ached from carrying the cooler, when his legs trembled, when he had nowhere to sit, or when he wasn’t making sales, he wouldn’t get discouraged. He said that every time this happens, he looks at the pacifier and remembers why it’s there and who it’s for… and finally, he told me that he leaves his house with only one thing on his mind: he doesn’t return defeated and he doesn’t settle for a draw, he only comes home with victory!
Before you complain about your life, remember that there are people with little in their pockets, but a great desire to get ahead.
