From a local gardener:
This tick was kept on display for some time so people could observe it. After months in a sealed container, without any additional food, it laid eggs. This demonstrates how long a tick can remain dormant and how many eggs a female can lay.
Remember: Ticks become active again in the fall, so it’s important to continue with preventative measures.
If you find a small pile of jelly balls in your yard, act immediately! They’re tick eggs ready to hatch.
🔥 Burn them or destroy them by soaking them in isopropyl alcohol.
⚠️ Be sure to wear gloves when handling the nest: it contains hundreds of eggs that will hatch within a few weeks.
I think it’s important to share this information because tick bites can be dangerous.
Stay safe and informed to protect yourself and your garden from these small but insidious creatures.
